Turret Overtravel or Failure to Index Into Position

Turret Overtravel or Failure to Index Into Position
This issue is mainly caused by failure of the mechanical back-stop mechanism and is generally not related to the electrical control system.
Troubleshooting steps:
Check the back-stop locating pin:
If the locating pin is sticking or the spring has weakened from fatigue, repair the locating pin and replace the spring.
Check the coupling pin:
If the coupling pin between the back-stop ratchet and the worm gear has broken or disengaged, replace it with a high-strength coupling pin.
Check tool weight and balance:
If the tool is too long or too heavy, excessive inertia may cause overshoot. Replace the locating pin spring with one that has a higher spring stiffness.
Turret Fails to Reach Position (Stops Midway)
In most cases, this is caused by misalignment of the turret sensor (signal cam/disc)
Loosen the signal disc clamping nut and readjust the position between the signal disc and the spring contact to ensure each turret station triggers correctly.
Tighten the signal disc clamping nut and apply thread locker to prevent it from loosening again.
